Amazon is opening its first relief hub in Europe to help support victims of natural disasters

Amazon has set up its first relief hub in Europe to help people who need support following a natural disaster or other emergenices.

The hub will be based in Rheinberg, German where the company will keep 1,000 pallets of vital supplies needed after storms, earthquakes, fires, floods and other emergencies.

Bettina Stix, who leads Amazon Disaster Relief, said: "Today, natural disasters happen more often and are increasingly more severe, and we're mobilising our global inventory, logistics infrastructure and technology to support the communities impacted by these emergencies."

She also said: "We've partnered with local and international relief organisations to understand their needs, and we've looked at our data to identify the most-demanded products in the aftermath of natural disasters."

And she added: "With the opening of this new hub in Germany, our response to disasters across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa will be even faster and more efficient."

The hub will store a variety of supplied such as tents, blankets, beds, mats, sleeping bags, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and cleaning products. Amazon has looked at what people need post disaster and discovered 80% of the time, they want the same products.
