Looking out of the window on a plane is one of the best parts of flying.

If you're lucky enough to bag a window seat on a flight, then you get the added benefit of being able to take in the breathtaking view of the world from up high. While most of the flight might just involve looking at clouds, as you take off and as you get closer to your destination, stunning landscapes will start to come into view - and they're really not a sight to be missed.

But one woman was unable to fully enjoy the view from her seat on a recent flight, because of a fight she was having with a child in the seat in front of hers. The child kept sticking their hand behind them to pull down the window shade, and every time the woman pulled it up again, they'd repeat the process.

In a video shared to TikTok, a woman named Umaymah - who posts under the username @vmaymah - shared evidence of the battle she had with the child, showing the youngster closing the window, the woman opening it again, and the child trying to close it - before Umaymah put her hand in the way to stop it from being fiddled with again.

Umaymah also added text to the video, Bristol Live reports, which read: "The kid in front of me thinks he can close MY window shade," and there was a separate caption below the clip, reading: "It's my window."

Commenters on the video were firmly on the woman's side, with many pointing out that closing the window shade is only acceptable on a night flight, and as Umaymah was flying during the day, she had every right to want to admire the view. What's more, since the window was behind the child's seat, commenters said it wasn't theirs to mess with.

One person wrote: "If I sit next to a window, I want to look out of the window... who closes the window blind on a day flight?" While another added: "I wouldn't be this calm." Someone else also posted: "This is why I want adult-only flights."

However, others sided with the child. Some said he may have wanted to get some sleep on the flight and the light was bothering him, while there were also those who said the sun might have been in his eyes. Many of these comments were responded to by people saying he should have a "sleep mask", which would help keep the sun out of his eyes when he naps without disturbing other people.
