The real reason as to why Jules Hudson has left Escape to the Country has been revealed.

The TV star is best known for his TV presenting career but is now taking a break from his day job. However, he has since revealed that the intense schedule has left him burnt out and needing a "creative and emotional" rest.

Jules has said he is taking some time to focus on a different passion instead. The 54-year-old is going down a different avenue and is taking on a 12 week furniture-making course in Lyme Regis while he takes a break from Escape to the Country.

Jules told Lyme Regis & Bridport News why he is taking a break from television. He explained: "Late last year, I realised I was quite burnt out and needed a creative and emotional reset. It was a family discussion, and we are investing in our future."

The star is taking on his furniture making course at the Boat Building Academy, which he previously visited while filming Escape to the Country in 2012. He said he "fell in love" with the course.

Jules is used to having a busy schedule so is taking the opportunity of having time off to pursue is passion. He said: "It stuck in my mind, and I always wanted to return. But when you have a family and are working, life just moves on, and you go with it."

Jules has said that he needed a "reset" and this was the perfect opportunity for him. He is now encouraging others to follow their dreams in order to enhance their mental health.

Despite taking a break from Escape to the Country, he has confirmed that he will not be leaving permanently. Jules first joined the cast of the show back in 2007 and has been on it ever since.

While he is pursuing furniture making, Jules said that he has no plans of leaving Escape to the Country, a show that he has presented since 2007. Away from the cameras, the television presenter lives with his wife Tania Fitzgerald, their young son Jack, and two Labradors, Teddy and Lolo.

Jules tends to keep his family out of the spotlight as he said they found living in the capital difficult so they moved away to somewhere greener. Speaking to The Times in 2020, Jules said: "I found London very claustrophobic. There's an energy about it that I absolutely love, but I need green fields and space."

The couple, who tied the knot in 2016, decided to find somewhere they'd feel more comfortable, and ended up in the West Midlands. "We knew what we were looking for - something with space, something with outbuildings. And having its own plot was really important to me," Jules added.

Jules has said in the past that he wants to continuing presenting Escape to the Country for as long as possible. He told the Express: "I hope to do Escape to the Country for as long as I'm able and for as long as the show will have me. For me, country life is absolutely who I am and it's who I was before I came to present Escape to the Country. It's a massive step for lots of people, so having the chance to share that, that experience, those tips and tricks, it's very much a way of life for me. I absolutely love it, it's a show I'm incredibly fond of. It's very dear to me."
