Madonna was involved in a truly cringeworthy moment mid-way through a show on her Celebration tour in California.
The 65-year-old Vogue hitmaker was performing at the Kia Forum on Thursday when she made the huge blunder, embarrassing herself in front of the audience. She'd paused the show to single out an innocent concertgoer in the middle of the crowd.
Footage captured the moment Madonna probed, "What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you getting sitting down?" The video has since gone viral for what happened next – and fans can't quite believe such an awkward mistake occurred.

It turns out the Madonna fan was in a wheelchair. After the singer singled them out, stopping the show for all eyes on the situation, she realised the error and quickly apologised to the gig-goer, telling them she was "glad" they were there.
Viral sausage roll debate leaves Brits confused about how to order at Greggs"Oh, OK. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that," she said. "I'm glad you are here." The clip has been shared millions of times now from various angles, with comments flooding in following the toe-curling incident.
Some fans called the chart-topping musician "insulting", while one Reddit user said: "Girl, bye. People are paying good money to see you, don’t disrespect them like that." Another added: "Even if that person wasn't in a wheelchair, maybe just having bad knees or whatever, how tf is that anybody's business?"
A third chimed in: "At her age, she should have known better than to do this. They probably paid good money for their seats too. So rude." While another recalled a similar incident when they attended a concert previously.

"I went to a concert a couple of months after going through surgery and chemo and couldn’t stand the whole time. I would’ve been mortified to be called out like this," one commented on TikTok. Another said: "I was injured just before a concert last year and the guitarist kept gesturing to me, making faces, and flipped me off for sitting. Singer also complained… I had wanted to see him for years."
It's not the only awkward ordeal to take place on Madonna's lengthy tour, only last month she narrowly avoided serious injury after falling off a chair during her sell-out gig in Seattle. She took a tumble while performing her 1986 Open Your Heart at the city’s Climate Pledge Arena over the weekend. Footage on social media shows the pop icon sitting on the chair as it was being dragged across the stage backwards by a backing dancer, who was wearing sky-high heels.
The crowd gasped as he stumbled prompting the chair to fall to the floor, with Madonna hitting the stage with a bump. However, the award-winning singer laughed off the incident, and could be seen rolling across the floor giggling as she was helped up by her other backing dancers. Ever the professional, Madge managed to continue singing her song, before standing up to finish her musical number.
