A skincare expert says there are several things we should cut out of our diet and exercises we should start doing to get "amazing" skin.

Skincare lovers are inundated with social media posts every day telling us which products to buy and techniques to make our faces look flawless. But, as our skin types can differ so much, not everything works for everyone - some are obsessed with hyaluronic acid, others swear by nightly face masks, and others count on cleansing tools and facial rollers.

But 59-year-old Gigi, who is a skin expert says everyone can remove four healthy things from their lives to get "really healthy skin". Gigi admitted at times her skin has looked "tired" and like she has "aged 15 years", but cutting out some of her old habits made a significant difference - which is evident as she spoke with a glowing face on her TikTok page - @gigi___333 recently.

Gigi said the first thing that can impact your skin is the consumption of alcohol. She explained: "I am an old tequila girl - I used to love drinking tequila - but what it did on my overall health, especially if you're somebody who has an autoimmune condition, connective tissue disorder, or anything like that, alcohol really taxes your body."

The skincare expert said she "cannot stress enough" how bad stress "wreaks havoc on your body", in turn badly affecting your skin. "It is horrible," she said. Speaking from experience, Gigi added: "I used to work in corporate and when I would work 15-hour days - not so bad if you're only doing it once in a while - but week after month after year after year, it just broke me down. The first place that it showed was my skin."

The third thing to cut out, according to Gigi is sugar. She added: "When I eat sugar within 24 hours, my skin, especially in my face will look swollen and inflamed and puffy. It is so toxic. It is so good but so bad."

Gigi added that she believes exercise is super important for the skin. "You've got to get moving," she said. She continued: "You've got to get your heart rate up and get your blood circulating. There's nothing better than going for a really brisk walk and getting your heart rate up for a little while and coming back and looking at your skin and it is flushed and looks healthy.

"If you do that all the time your skin will look so healthy." Commenting on Gigi's TikTok one individual agreed: "I'll be 34 this year and people think I'm much younger. People ask what I use. I say I don't drink, smoke, eat sugar. I meditate for 40 minutes daily."

"I'm stressed out and it's taking a toll on my skin," added another. Another wrote: "I just turned 60. I quit alcohol five years ago and my skin keeps getting better."
