The 'UK's most idyllic beach' which has stunning views out across the British coastline can only be accessed only by what tourists have been warned are 'very dangerous' steps.
Birling Gap can be found south of East Dean and Friston on the road to Eastbourne. Steps have been replaced for those who want to visit and beach access is possible. But visitors are urged to visit the National Trust website before they do, as they are often closed because of bad weather or cliff falls. It is an idyllic location, but visitors should "stay away from the cliff edge" because it is very dangerous
The Seven Sisters nearby is often the scene of cliff falls and the precarious nature of the cliff with inclement weather.
It is described by visiteastbourne as a 'beautiful and tranquil enclosed pebble beach' set beneath the Seven Sisters cliffs. It can be reached from the village of East Dean and the beach has idyllic views of the rolling Sussex countryside. After going down the metal staircases to the beach a "dramatic walk" can be taken along the clifftops but people are still warned to stay away from the edge because of erosion
There's also plenty for visitors to see around the wider area. The Seven Sisters Country Park, the Tower Eastbourne, colloquially known as the Wish Tower, is reported to be worth visiting. It is one of over 100 gun towers built along the English coast to defend the country against invasion in the 19th century when Britain was at war with Napoleonic France and it offers a lovely vantage point out over the town and sea.

At Birling Gap absorb the full effect of the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs and follow the South Downs Way to Eastbourne,"
The Mirror previously reported how many visitors visit Birling Gap while staying in Eastbourne and recommend visits outside the area. One said: "It is worth taking a walk westwards towards Beachy Head, distance 4 - 5 miles. This is a natural beauty spot about 1 1/4 hours walk away. Here you have marvellous views of the Channel. Would recommend Eastbourne either for the long weekend or a midweek break due to its limitations."
Another visitor said: "A great base for exploring Beachy Head (10 mins), Birling Gap (20 mins) and beyond. Take the bus from the High Street to see these sights and others on the route to Brighton."
