American actor Steve Buscemi is known around the world for his incredible talent and blockbuster films and shows, including Reservoir Dogs, Armageddon, and The Sopranos. But did you know that you’ve probably been saying his name wrong for years?

And you wouldn’t be the only one. The 66-year-old, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, and is of Sicilian, English, Dutch, and Irish descent, has spoken previously about how he has been saying his own surname wrong for at least 50 years.

According to Buscemi, it wasn’t until he visited Sicily with his family and met four people with the same last name, that he discovered his own mistake. However, another anecdote about his name has also resurfaced on Reddit, leaving people in hysterics.

The post reads: “My favourite ‘don't you know’ was in an interview I read. Guy gets a call from a woman wanting to leave a message for actor Steve Buscemi. Thinking he's being helpful he corrects her and says ‘It's actually pronounced boo-SHE-me. She replies, No, it's boo-SEM-ee’ (they go back and forth on this a bit). Finally, she gives up and says ‘Whatever you say. Can you just tell him his wife called?’. Classic.”

Replying to the post, one person wrote: “This is how I find out I've been pronouncing Steve Buscemi's name wrong? I've always said it Boos-kem-ee. Oh dear.” And another user added: “I always thought busk-em-ee.”

According to an interview in GQ with the actor, Buscemi, who volunteered as a firefighter during 9/11, had always pronounced his surname boo-SEM-ee, but it’s actually said boo-SHEM-ee. So there you have it, if you're lucky enough to meet him you can address him correctly - or call him Mr. Pink.
