Valentine's Day is a time for romance, whether you're coupled up, or single and looking for love - but it undoubtedly can be a rather pricey affair.

Even the most gimmicky of things seem to cost a small fortune if they're covered in hearts and laden with declarations of 'I love you', but Poundland has changed the game this year, and shoppers are seriously shocked.

Starting at just £2.50, their range of Valentine's Day lingerie has got hearts racing. Money is tight for many shoppers in the cost of living crisis, but these saucy offerings won't make a significant dent in your finances if you're looking to spice things up on February 14.

Poundland took to Instagram to proudly display their offerings, and first up was a black lacy and see-through three-piece set, containing a bra for £5 in cup sizes A-D, a suspender belt for £4, and knickers for a steal at £2.50.

Next up was a red lace set, with a dangly diamante heart on both pieces, featuring a longer-line bra, again for £5, and knickers for £2.50.

Finally on the Instagram post, was a red lace body with cups and a cute bow adorning the front. This was the most expensive piece of the collection coming in at £9 - but still a steal when compared to other retailers making similar items.

In the comments, many were impressed, with one saying: "I love the red underwear", and another complaining that they'd been in that day and her store "didn't have them in", as she'd wanted to treat herself.

Someone raised concerns, however, that the underwear range only catered to those with smaller chests, penning: "Where's the ones for bigger boobs?"

One disgruntled Instagrammer was also annoyed that the sets weren't £1, writing: "Ahhhh remember the days when Poundland meant what it says on the sign and everything was £1."

As well as lingerie, Poundland is also offering other Valentine's items including their infamous £1 engagement ring, which always proves controversial on social media. Some defended the item, saying: "If you actually love them the ring shouldn't matter. Awful how being so shallow and vain has become a norm." But others said if you love your partner, you should "save up for better."

They're also offering a range of home decor, and sweet treats, including photo frames for a pic of you and your sweetheart, plushie hearts with 'love' emblazoned on them, and balloons to decorate a room for your favourite person to surprise them - with prices starting at £1.
