Barnaby Webber's mum got emotional as she made a heartbreaking admission in her first live TV interview since their son's killer was sentenced.
Emma and David's son Barnaby Webber was killed alongside his friend Grace O’Malley-Kumar in Nottingham last June as they made their way home from a night out, with paranoid schizophrenic Valdo Calocane also going on to kill Ian Coates.
Calocane was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order for killing Barnaby, Grace and Ian last week, and relatives have criticised the Crown Prosecution Service for accepting Calocane’s guilty pleas to manslaughter.
Emma had previously told the police: "You have blood on your hands. If you had done your jobs properly, there’s a very good chance my beautiful boy would be alive today," and during her appearance on Good Morning Britain today alongside her husband David, she doubled down on her comments, as the couple opened up about their tragic loss. She explained how the sentence was a "huge" insult" to the family after the CPS decided to accept a manslaughter plea with diminished responsibility.

In their lengthy interview, the pair called for an enquiry into what happened and how Calocane was allowed to kill their son, Grace and Ian. They explained the heartbreaking effect on Barnaby's younger brother Charlie.
"It's so hard to see Charlie, Barney's little brother, and he's just destroyed. I'm 52-years-old so I don't know how much longer I have on the planet, but he's got a whole lifetime in front of him. I fear for him. He's such a strong character," David added.

He's got the most amazing support network around him at his school and his friends. I have four heroes. Two of them - Barnaby, didn't stand a chance, he was ambushed by this monster. Grace, tried to save him and she could have run away and she didn't. She'll forever be my hero for that. Foolish girl, I'm angry and love her at the same time.
"But the other two heroes are James O'Malley Kumar and Charlie Webber. They were brave enough last week to be in court. They were brave enough to do their victim impact statements. It broke my heart when James said, I'm an only child and never wanted to be, and when Charlie spoke about walking past Barnaby's bedroom."
Emma and David had previously recalled the moment they knew something was wrong. They heard on the news something had happened in Nottingham and when they tried to call Barnaby, there was no answer. Convinced he was just sleeping, things worsened for the family when they heard the location of the death and a check of his phone location, their worst fears were confirmed.
"It sounds ridiculous in my head, but I heard a man and a woman had been killed, and thought it can't be Barney because it still feels like he's a child to me. It was a blood-run-cold moment... my instant reaction was 'why isn't he answering', but then we saw where it [the phone] went and it went to a police station. That is when I knew it was bad," she said.
David added of the family's tragic loss: "My world just fell apart … I don't remember too much after that. We were a normal family, just like many up and down the country. Our world changed just like that."
