Gmail users might want to check they have the latest version of this popular messaging service installed on their devices if they want access to a ‘game-changing' new feature.

It appears that many Android phone users - including those with Galaxy and Pixel devices - are suddenly seeing a new option to “Select all” when checking their inbox.

That might not sound particularly thrilling but selecting multiple emails at once rather than tapping on each one individually has been something users have been wanting for years. It basically means you can select all of the messages displayed on the screen (up to a maximum of 50) and delete or move them all with just one tap.

It’s clearly got some Android users excited with many taking to platforms such as Reddit to announce their joy at the upgrade.

“This has been a long overdue change,” said one Android fan named Drizza whilst another called Ozzfan added, “I didn't notice before until you pointed it out, but that's a game changer.”

It’s unclear if this is a global update from Google and how many devices have received the change but it’s worth checking you have the latest Gmail software installed in your phone.

If your device has received the upgrade, you should now see the option to “Select all” at the top of your inbox.

If you don't see the ‘Select all', you should check and install the very latest Gmail Android app update available via Google's Play Store.

As we mentioned earlier, it won’t select every message in your entire inbox but it should mean you can easily delete around 50 messages at a time. Hallelujah!
