A popular coffee chain is to close more kiosks in Tesco supermarkets following a string of closures that have already happened this year.
Harris + Hoole, which is owned by Caffè Nero, will pull the shutters down on seven more branches in May 2024 after a contract between the coffee chain and Tesco came to an end. It comes after Harris + Hoole already closed 19 of its Tesco kiosks this year.
However, its standalone shops will remain open, and Harris + Hoole said it has plans for new stores in the future. A spokesperson for Harris + Hoole said: “Harris + Hoole has a strong store opening and growth plan for 2023 and beyond, focused on standalone stores in locations which best appeal to our target customer market.
"Following the conclusion of our existing agreement with Tesco, both parties have decided to pursue separate strategies. The first of our new stores has already opened, with several more in the pipeline. We’re grateful for our partnership with Tesco and wish them well for the future.”
Harris + Hoole first launched in Tesco stores in 2012. It was sold to Caffè Nero in 2016 and has operated under the franchise since.

In more Tesco news, the supermarket chain is giving away free carrots this Christmas to spread festive cheer and reduce food waste. Tesco customers will be able to get their hands on the free root veg from December 20 until December 24.
The free carrots will be available in stands at the front of 829 larger stores and shoppers will be able to help themselves. You don't need to make any other purchase.
Kids are traditionally supposed to leave out a mince pie and glass of milk for Santa, plus carrots for Rudolph and his fellow reindeer. But as well as helping families celebrate Christmas, the supermarkets say the move is designed to help reduce food waste.
