A holidaymaker was left gobsmacked when she returned from her travels and found she had captured a priceless moment between two strangers in the background of some of her photos.
Alycia Savard-Ouellet went on a tour of Italy in 2019 with the journey beginning and ending in Rome, alongside trips to Florence, Naples, and Pompeii. During her five-night stay in the Italian capital, the woman paid a visit to the world-famous Trevi Fountain, and it was there that she accidentally captured a couple's magical moment in the background of her pictures.
The woman had no idea what she had captured until she returned home to Canada and showed her family the photos she'd taken. When she got to the snaps of the iconic landmark, her mum stopped her from flicking past them too quickly as she noticed something in the corner.
In a snap of the science student looking at the floor in front of the railings at the fountain, a man can be seen holding out a ring to his partner and she clasps her hands to her mouth in surprise. Then, in the following photo, as Alycia turns to face the camera, the unknown woman can be seen jumping into the man's arms after seemingly saying yes to the proposal.
Alycia, from Canada, launched an online search to find the couple and to be able to share the romantic moment with them - but it isn't known if she ever found them. "It was really cute," she said. "Once I came back home, I was showing my pictures to my parents on the TV and I told them 'Oh I remember, I was laughing because of the cute couple kissing'.
Viral sausage roll debate leaves Brits confused about how to order at Greggs"Then my mum went 'Wait, go back to the picture before this one' and we noticed he looked like he was proposing. So I've decided to try and find them and share the pictures with them because they are really cute and in the moment. It was amazing, I hope I can find them."
During her solo pizza-fuelled adventure, she visited the famous fountain three times, but on the first visit, a stranger asked Alycia to take a photo of her. They got chatting and discovered they were both from Montréal before her new friend offered to take her photo too.
The pair very nearly missed the emotional moment when her designated photographer said 'Wait, there's a couple kissing in the background of your pictures, we should move to take some without them'. Alycia looked over her shoulder to have a look and laughed, with the stranger capturing it all on film.
Alycia described the trip as 'the best time of her life' and said: "The Trevi Fountain was on my list since it's one of the things you can't miss when in Rome. It's so lovely, I hope I can find them because they might want these really cute pictures."
