An awkward sign at a popular London restaurant has left diners in stitches of laughter. A kebab shop in Wood Green, north London tried to inform people that there is extra room in the back of the eatery for when it gets busy. But their well-intended sign became the subject of a joke online.
The hilarious message in the window of kebab shop Donny Daddy, picture in this article, reads: "We have more spaces for large groups in our back side". The unfortunate double meaning of the sign left little to the imagination of a couple who often go to the Uber Eats takeaway.
Perhaps it was intentional of the restaurant who wrote the witty slogan. It wouldn't be the first time a hospitality sign has rallied in laughs.
One-half of the couple, who passed the doner kebab joint earlier this week, couldn't help but share it on Reddit channel CasualUK. The pair were left in a fit of giggle. He said: "My girlfriend spotted this weird invitation in our local kebab shop window." The post was flooded with comments from followers.
One individual joked: "Alright, no need to boast about it with a sign on the door." Another said: "I'm not going round the back after a full doner with chilli sauce..."
Mansion snapped up in three days despite being on fire in property listing"Getting a table is a pain in the a** though," another joked. Some defended the restaurant as one said: "They probably meant their rear-end of back passage, an honest mistake."
Another Reddit user said: "It's an area at the back of the shop that isn't obvious if you haven't been inside before." One individual commented: "My favourite kebab shop is the same, front end for takeaway, back end for seating."
Defending Doner Daddy, another Reddit user said: "I worked for a Bangladeshi manager and he would say this, same as left side and right side I guess." "Hmmm, appetising," another added. Another joked: "Don't threaten me with a good time."
One said: "I was wondering the same thing - but the back space isn’t hidden at all, their sign doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Good place."
Another wrote: Yeah, very obviously seating. Just anticipated it as a 'please bring lots of people sign." Another added: "Oh crikey."
One user added: "I'd be worried about what happens to my back side after eating there if my local kebab shop is anything to go by."
