Danielle Lloyd has thought about adopting another child after doctors advised her to have a hysterectomy after a cancer scare.
The 39-year-old is already mum to five children - Archie, 13, Harry, 12, and George, 10, from her marriage to Jamie O’Hara, and son Ronnie, six, and daughter Autumn, 22 months, with second husband Michael O’Neill - but she has had her hopes of having another baby dashed after she was rushed to hospital earlier this year. Danielle was terrified when she began bleeding, and believing she was having a miscarriage, went to A&E. However, doctors found cysts on her ovaries, one of which was the size of a tennis ball.
Danielle had tests to determine if she had endometrial cancer, as the lining of her womb was thickened, and she was advised not to have any more children. Six weeks later, she was given the all-clear from cancer, but her specialist revealed she had severe endometriosis, which is when the lining of the womb grows in other places, but she also had adenomyosis, which is then the lining of the womb starts growing into the wall of womb. If left untreated, the conditions could develop into cancer, and Danielle was told during her appointment that she wouldn’t be able to have any more children after treatment.
After an emotional appearance on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Danielle spoke about her hopes for her family, and said taking part on the gruelling Channel 4 show has transformed her into a “more positive person”. It’s also helped make her physically and mentally stronger, and she told OK! the show has enabled her to come to terms with no longer being able to have any more children. “The older Autumn gets, the more I’m starting to think that phase in life has passed me anyway,” the model explained. “But I’m so thankful for the kids I’ve got. It’s sad, but I know I’m done now.”
Despite contemplating adoption, Danielle confessed she’d have to get a “double decker bus” to drive her brood around, and made a heartbreaking decision following her time on Celebrity SAS. “I’d always thought about adopting but, realistically, I’ve got no room at the inn any more,” she candidly shared. The former Miss Great Britain is still dealing with the after effects of her health scare, and opened up about her “painful” endometriosis, as she revealed she’s still waiting to be sterilised. “Anyone with endometriosis will tell you, it’s not just like period pain, it’s pains shooting down your legs, awful cramps, heavy bleeding and exhaustion,” she shared, and hoped that once she’s had the op, she’ll feel “so much better”.
Katie Price and Danielle Lloyd 'bury the hatchet' after documentary feudEarlier this month, she said it was “hard to come to terms” with having no more children, but insisted she felt grateful for her happy and healthy kids. “I would have liked for Autumn to have a little sister, but I am grateful to have five healthy children, and maybe this is God’s way of saying, ‘You’ve had enough now!’” she told Closer magazine, and joked she was “just going to have to wait for my kids to have their babies and I’ll look after them!”
