Tesco will be locking the price on over 1,000 everyday items to help households with the cost of living over the winter period.
The supermarket chain said the move, which will be in place until next year, runs alongside recent price cuts to hundreds of other products as well as price-matching 600 products with Aldi each week.
Products to have their prices locked include Typhoo One Cup teabags, Jacobs’ Cream Crackers and Aquafresh Freshmint Toothpaste. These products currently cost £1, £1.70 and 80p respectively and will remain at this price for the remainder of this year.
Tesco UK CEO, Jason Tarry, said the latest round of Low Everyday Prices would help customers manage their household budgets as they go into the Christmas period.
He said: "We know that this has been a year of budgeting carefully for shoppers, with customers wanting to make sure they are getting great value on their shop. By locking more than 1,000 prices, our customers know exactly how much they will pay for those items today, at Halloween, at Christmas, and into 2024.”
Asda praised over inclusive kids clothing range with holes for feeding tubesBack in June, Tesco cut the prices of 500 everyday products across all of its stores. Since then, the supermarket chain says it has continued to drop prices with more price cuts announced again in August. Tesco says since June the price of its Andrex Toilet Tissue having been reduced by 9%, Free From white rolls price cut by 14% and its Pitted black olives reduced by 8%.
The Tesco boss added: “Food inflation is still with us, but by cutting prices wherever we can, and by locking others to give customers certainty in their budgets, we are able to provide great value to our shoppers. When you combine that with the more than 8,000 Clubcard Prices deals each week, there are thousands of reasons to shop at Tesco.”
