CD Projekt Red is finally making Cyberpunk 2077 into the game it should've been with a sizeable update that will overhaul how a number of systems, like skill trees, perks and more, work.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the sci-fi follow-up to The Witcher 3, which is CD Projekt's most popular series to date – with good reason. Unfortunately, the studio had significantly less luck with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December of 2020, which was so bad that it resulted in a class action lawsuit that saw the studio pay out a settlement of $1.85million. The game was also pulled from the PlayStation Store while the Xbox storefront emblazoned a warning to potential buyers on the listing page.

Since then, the developer has been working to get the game up to the standard it should've been, and today's Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 should do exactly that. We got a brief rundown of the changes on Twitter at the start of September alongside all of the new content in the Phantom Liberty expansion, which releases next week on Tuesday, September 26.

There' blog also details the revamped police system, and the new way in which car chases will work when Cyberpunk update 2.0 is implemented. You can check out the highlights below.

The Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 release time is at 4pm BST / 11am EDT / 8am PDT today and is solely for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S so if you're playing on a last-gen console you won't be able to experience the overhauled Night City. It's worth nothing that update 2.0 comes with new system requirements, outlined on Twitter. CD Projekt also recommends restarting the game once you've installed Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0, saying that "starting fresh will enhance your overall gameplay experience," because of the sheer amount of changes the patch is rolling out.
