Antiques Roadshow returned for another instalment on Sunday evening with one guest left floored over the price of his mother-in-law's junk shop find. During the episode, the guest brought along a trunk he had found at his mother-in-law's house, which she used for her tools.

However, it wasn't just any trunk as it was in fact a vintage piece of Louis Vuitton luggage, which his mother-in-law had purchased for around £25 in a junk shop in the 80s. The guest explained: "I came by this by chance! I went down to see my mother-in-law to help her do some DIY and I asked her where her tools were and she said they were in a shed in a box.

"I walked into her shed, saw this, opened it, found all the tools, went back, did the DIY and said: 'By the way, I think you've got something quite special in the shed!' And so she said: 'Well, if you want it, you can have it but never sell it!'"

Expert, Hilary Kay, noted all the details, explaining the Louis Vuitton find was from just before 1896. After studying the item, Hilary revealed that with the right buyer it could go for a minimum of £5,000 at auction but could even fetch £7,500. To which the guest exclaimed: "Wow!"

Asked what he was planning to do with the item, the guest said: "I have two daughters here with me who made me bring it today... I think they've got their eyes on it! How they'll split it? I don't know!"

Elsewhere on the show, one guest was left completely blown away to discover their family sundial was worth an eye-watering amount.

The guest explained before speaking to expert Jon Baddeley that she had brought her sundial in a tupperware box, joking: "When I tell people that I have a sundial, they expect something sort of like this [bigger] and then I open [this] and say: 'This is our sundial' and they're quite surprised!'", pointing out that their family think it's a "little hidden gem".

Speaking to expert Jon, the guest revealed that her granddad was demolishing an old barn and found the sundial in a bit of sacking. He took it home to which her dad and uncle cleaned it up, it has now been in the family for 70 years.

Expert Jon said that it was a "very special" piece invented by a creator called Mr Tuttell, who started his shop back in 1695, explaining it was a travel sundial as you could pop it in your pocket and arrive somewhere to get the solar time. However, he did note that it was missing a gnomon, a stick, on both sides.

Yet despite this missing feature due to the fact it was signed, dated and a very rare piece, Jon valued it between £3,000 to £5,000, leaving the two guests delighted. However, there was more shocks to come as Jon said if they replaced the pieces, it could reach £6,000 to £10,000, he added: "A complete piece sold within the last couple of years for £25,000...."
