Manchester United are looking to build on an impressive first season under Erik ten Hag, which saw them win the League Cup, qualify for the Champions League and reach the FA Cup final.

Former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has claimed Harry Maguire rejected the chance to join the Hammers as he did not want to be involved in a relegation battle.

Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is in talks over a return to Old Trafford, Ten Hag has confirmed.
Evans signed a short-term deal with United to provide defensive cover in pre-season, featuring in friendlies against Lyon, Wrexham, Borussia Dortmund and Athletic Bilbao. He was also in the directors' box at Old Trafford for their Premier League opener against Wolves and Ten Hag says United remain in talks with the 35-year-old.
"In this moment, he is not [under contract] but we are talking," the Dutchman said. "We will see. We are in talks and when we have news we will bring it."

According to the Daily Mail, Eric Bailly is in talks with Fulham over a move to Craven Cottage having last played for United in 2021.
The defender spent last season on loan at Marseille and was not part of United's pre-season tour of America, with Ten Hag deeming him surplus to requirements. The 29-year-old had been linked with Saudi club Al Nassr, but the report states that move now 'looks to have collapsed'.
