Terrifying moment plane erupts in fireball as it crashes on motorway killing 10

A driver's dashcam caught the terrifying moment a plane that crashed onto a Malaysian motorway - killing 10 people including two road users this morning.

Six passengers and two members of flight crew were among the eight people on board the private jet - which had departed from Langkawi International Airport earlier today - when it came crashing down on the busy highway in Elmina, Shah Alam, Malaysia. Another two people - a motorcyclist and car driver - perished when the aircraft collided with them as they made their way along the road.

Now another road user has shared a blood-curdling clip showing the moment of the plane's impact. In the video the driver is scooting along the highway when all of a sudden, an enormous infernal ball comes across into their lane.

The driver appears to have escaped unscathed and continues to drive for a few moments before pulling over after the incredibly close call. The video then shows the drama from the rear camera as plumes of acrid smoke billow into the air from the smoking wreckage of the plane on the adjacent carriageway.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the plane flying "erratically" before it came crashing down at around 2pm local time (7am GMT). Former Malaysian Air Force serviceman Mohammed Hashim, 31, was working as a delivery driver when he reported hearing a sound overhead. He said: "It appeared to be flying erratically. Not long after that, I heard a loud boom. He added that he initially thought the flames had originated from a factory fire. "I sped towards the location and saw the remains of an aircraft", said Mr Hashim. "I also saw human remains on fire. I couldn't do anything."

"The Fire and Rescue Department managed to put out the fire in 10 minutes.

"Forensic personnel are in the process of collecting the remains and will bring them to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for a post-mortem examination and identification process."

In another statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), said those onboard included six passengers and two flight crew. The plane was operated by Jetvalet Sdn Bhd, a private jet carrier based in Kuala Lumpur. Officials added the flight had left Langkawi International Airport at around 2pm local time (7am GMT).
