Nate Diaz team member in hospital as UFC star accuses Jake Paul crew of assault

Jake Paul has claimed Nate Diaz's team are accusing his side of assault after a member of the UFC legend's entourage was hospitalised during a press conference brawl.

The social media star had an ugly final media day with his rival in Dallas that saw the pair hurl insults that included an outlandish homophobic rant from Diaz. But despite both men's anger at the other, it was their teams that ended up getting physical after they had completed their customary face-off.

As Paul and Diaz jeered at one another on the stage, their large security teams crowded the scene and ended up getting into an altercation that saw punches thrown. And the YouTube sensation has now claimed that he has been approached by his rival's side over email to discuss repercussions for the incident.

"Nate’s team has emailed my team trying to claim assault after his team swung first," Paul wrote on Twitter after the event, which saw the pair finally begin to get heated as fight day approaches. "Apparently the guy who swung first is at the hospital getting stitches. Hilarious these fake gangsters acting like this!" He later added: "All out warfare, eye for eye. You threatened MVPs co-founder who has been a partner to you and your team every step of the way? He’s put your best friend on over and over again. Stupid. Then your team wants to swing on us…so you got served a three piece and a biscuit. Punk. It’s time for goodnight."

Paul and Diaz are expected to face off once more tomorrow at their public weigh-in, although whether or not that will go ahead remains to be seen. Mirror Fighting understands there had been talks of the pair skipping today's face-off before organisers saw sense and decided to continue with the tradition in their penultimate promotional event after month's of build-up.

The pair traded verbal jabs during the public press conference, with Paul insisting he is in the best shape of his life. "Best shape of my life, feeling amazing brought in a whole entire new team, strength and conditioning, nutritionist, head coach, all of that," he said.

"I'm feeling good, and when I'm in the shape like this and I have the proper time to prepare you're going to see a different version, the best version of Jake Paul you've ever seen."
