Cars nowadays are incredibly advanced - from parking assist to cruise control. When you buy a vehicle, you no doubt want to try out all the nifty functions you were told about by the sales person - but it turns out there are still things people didn't know existed.

Car enthusiast @dongcheshijie often astonishes her social media followers with hidden functions - and the latest one has truly blown them away because it's not only handy, it could actually save lives. In a recent video, which has been seen over 8.1million times on TikTok, she gave drivers simple tips to make driving easier.

Sharing a piece of safety advice for when people are driving at night, the influencer shared a hidden button that can help limit glare from vehicles behind. She explained: "When driving at night, the rear lights are very dazzling. We only need to turn the small wrench under the rearview mirror to turn on the anti-glare function."

Certain cars have an actual button, which looks like a power button to press, while others have a tab located underneath the mirror toward the windscreen. Some modern cars are able to automatically dim the bright lights, while others will have to manually do it with a button or tab.

According to the Mazda website, the auto-dimming feature is "really quite simple". They explain: "When auto-dimming is turned on, your rear-view mirror will automatically darken in order to reduce headlight glare. There is a rear light sensor that can detect when a vehicle behind you is shining its headlights toward your mirrors. Anytime the vehicle is started, the auto-dimming feature will be activated."

They added: "Though you won't always need to use the auto-dimming feature, it can be extremely useful for nighttime driving." However, whether or not you have this button will depend on the make and model of your car. Some vehicles might have to buttons, such as an on and off switch.

People were astonished at learning the clever tip, with one person saying: "Nobody told me about the anti-glare thing on the mirror." Another simply said: "I really appreciate this."
