BBC viewers were left in hysterics after a live broadcast from a fan zone at the Box Park in Corydon went horribly wrong after England beat China 6-1 in the Women's World Cup. BBC reporter, Joe Inwood, was forced to apologise after a rowdy football fan interrupted his reporting to chant 'f*** the Tories' live on air.
The result means England took the top spot in Group D and successfully secured a clash against Nigeria next Monday (8 August) in the last 16, and one BBC presenter caught the aftermath of the celebrations as he reported live from Croydon.
Joe was cheerfully taking in the atmosphere of the Boxpark venue where fans were lapping up England's win before he was soon approached by a fan who seemingly couldn't hide his glee at England's sporting success. Moving the microphone closer to the fan, seemingly in the hopes of interviewing him, Joe soon stopped in his tracks when the booze-filled sport-lover swore live on-air as he slammed the Tory party.

After BBC fans reacted to the incident, with most of them seeing the funny side to the situation, Joe later took to social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, to poke fun at the situation as he sarcastically said the awkward exchange was a 'personal career highlight'. "Joking aside, these things can and do happen when broadcasting live. Not much to be done, other than apologise and move on," he said.
