A woman is left gobsmacked after discovering her 'entitled mother' has been selling Wi-Fi passwords to the neighbours. She said that her mum has been charging the neighbours $100 (£78) a month to piggyback off her grandad's Wi-Fi behind his back.

Taking to Reddit, she said: "I found out the my entitled mother has been selling her father's Wi-Fi password to any neighbour that could pick up his signal. "He found out when one of the neighbours tried to confirm his password. He confronted her about it and she just started crying about how she didn't have any money and he doesn't use it anyway."

Disgusted, the woman advised her grandad to contact his internet provider to explain what has been happening "just in case someone was doing something shady". She added: " Hopefully, he gets things situated with the company. He's old, so they'll probably help him do all the technical stuff. If not, I'm sure he'll call me needing help."

Commenting on her post, one user said: "I pay $50 a month for my own exclusive Wi-Fi. Your mother is a scam artist." Another user added: "How is $100 a month even a good deal?! I pay $55 a month for high speed internet…"

In response, the woman added: "Tell me about it! I've been in North Carolina with her for over a year, but still hear about some of the crazy stuff she does from family. This was just one of many things she's been doing lately."

One user said: "This woman should be really ashamed. When her father calls the company, she could get in real trouble. Courts have ruled that using passwords to access online accounts that are not your own may be illegal in almost all cases - even when the other person told you that password. The only person allowed to use that password to access their account is the person who set it up."

Another user added: "Hope he changed his password and doesn't give her the new one." A third user said: "For all the poor man knew someone could be logging his internet traffic or even hacking him through the internet router."
