Sofyan Amrabat has made it clear that he has no desire to join Liverpool this summer amid transfer interest from Manchester United.

Amrabat, 26, has been courted by several of Europe's elite since impressing in Morocco's historic run to the World Cup semi-finals back in 2022 and is expected to move on from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window.

The sought-after playmaker has qualities which would make him an ideal fit for Liverpool, who are expected to lose the services of both Fabinho and club captain Jordan Henderson in the coming weeks. However, it appears as though Jurgen Klopp will be forced to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.

According to Corriere della Sera, via GFNI, Amrabat has already turned down Liverpool's advances in favour of Manchester United whom, according to the report, he has already agreed to sign for.

Amrabat has been at Fiorentina since 2020 but the Italian outfit are ready to cash in on their midfield talisman this summer - provided that one of his admirers is willing to meet their €30million (£25.8m) asking price.

And while Manchester United's current priority is securing a new No.9 ahead of the new Premier League campaign, Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen on adding another midfielder to his squad in the final weeks of the transfer window if the club can raise additional funds by offloading several fringe players.

Ten Hag is more than aware of Amrabat's qualities given that the Fiorentina ace came through the ranks at FC Utrecht while the Dutchman was at the helm. United have already splashed out around £60m on Mason Mount in order to bolster their midfield options.

Despite intense transfer speculation, Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone revealed last week that nobody had tabled a concrete proposal for Amrabat's services. And Barone has urged the midfielder to stay focused ahead of the start of the new Serie A season given that there has been little movement over his future.

Speaking earlier this month, Barone told Sky Sport Italy: "He [Amrabat] is also very attached to the team and to me too, we speak in English and we talk almost every day. At the moment nothing official has arrived, I told him to come here concentrated because he is a Fiorentina player.

"He must have his head here and be ready for the start of the league, then if something comes we’ll evaluate it. We have an already very strong midfield department."
