Any busy career can put a strain on a relationship, and in Matt Damon 's case, he and Luciana Barroso went to couple's therapy.
During the sessions, the star had agreed that it was time for him to take an acting break. However, as fans know, he's in the upcoming movie Oppenheimer. So, what happened to that break?
Basically, when they had negotiated that break, they also agreed upon an exception.
Matt Damon explained how "the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called". And, evidently, he did. Matt didn't actually know that director Christopher Nolan was even looking for anyone. Apparently, he had been working on Oppenheimer on the down low.

True to her word, Luciana let Matt go on with the role, but he does admit that it was a "moment" in their house. It turns out that Christopher actually has fun with these sort of spontaneous offers while also recognising the downside.
He told Entertainment Weekly : "[It's] a fun way to do it, but it means that it's very difficult to call you to go out to dinner or something. Because every time you answer the phone it's like, what's it going to be?"
In this case, his offers to the stars of Oppenheimer were for a film that has become one of the most anticipated of the year. Christopher has both written and directed this biographical movie. It's a thriller that follows the Father of the Atomic Bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer. He was a key theoretical physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project.

Oppenheimer will hit theatres on July 21, but premiered in Paris on July 11. During the premiere, the stars of the film actually walked off of the red carpet in support of the SAG-AFTRA strike. So, like many films right now, the promo press tour for the movie came to a close early.
Nonetheless, Deadline estimates that Oppenheimer could rake in $50 million during it's opening weekend. This comes in conjunction with the release of the Barbie movie on the same day. AMC has reported that over 20,000 people have purchased tickets to see both of the films in a double feature on release day.
