Falling in dreams is a very common night-time occurrence, with such dreams being particularly associated with all-too-relatable feelings of worry and the sensation of losing control over parts of your life, whether that be your career, personal relationships, or financial situation.
Now expert dream analysts and psychologists have shared their insight into what falling dreams actually signify, explaining how this can differ from variation to variation.
The sensation of falling may represent a feeling of helplessness, and, by looking at a few other factors in your dream - for example, where you're falling from - you might be able to put together a clearer picture of where such anxieties are coming from.
Certified psychiatrist Dr. Nereida Gonzalez-Berrios, M.D. told bedroom furniture company Dreams: "It also indicates fear, terror, and anxiety that comes out of losing grip over significant things."

Dreaming of falling from the top of a cliff indicates a feeling of stress over "something or someone".
Physically losing contact with something in these sorts of dreams point toward a loss of contact in our waking lives. This could perhaps mean losing contact with close friends or losing sight of a once longed-for aspiration you feel has since become unattainable.
