A family's world 'turned upside down' after their 'healthy' new baby was rushed back into hospital.

Hudson Oliver Roebuck was born by caesarean on June 27, four days after mum Georgia Hoad was rushed into hospital due to preeclampsia.

He weighed 6lb 11oz and was soon allowed home, in Stockport. But the newborn's health deteriorated as he returned to Stepping Hill Hospital with suspected jaundice on July 1, before being rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, in Merseyside, two days later.

Little Hudson has since been in an induced coma for nine days and suffered three haemorrhages - while his parents have twice been told he might not survive. Georgia, 27, told the Manchester Evening News : "It's turned our world upside down.

"We were excited. We had a happy, healthy baby for five days. For five days he was absolutely fine, but then it just went rapidly downhill."

Georgia and Hudson's dad, Saul Roebuck, 34, last saw their new baby awake on Monday, July 3. He appeared 'grey' when his health took a downward turn, before being kept in an incubator.

Hudson has a rare condition called haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), and tests are currently ongoing to determine the cause of it. Depending on the outcome, little Hudson may need a bone marrow transplant.

The situation has been traumatic for Hudson's parents. He's the couple's first child together, while they were both looking forward to introducing him to their other children - Georgia's son Alfie, eight, and daughter Ava-Grace, five, as well as Saul's four-year-old Amelia.

Instead, the couple have had to watch over their newborn son in a 'rollercoaster' of emotions at Alder Hey, worrying about each development. "We just keep having good days and bad days," said Georgia.

"We don't know how long we are going to be here. We keep getting told we might be transferred back to Manchester but he's not stable enough to go yet.

"We don't know what the future holds with Hudson, we've been told twice that he has nearly died. On Sunday I went back to see my children, they were both devastated because I've had this baby and they've only met him once."

The couple have launched a GoFundMe to help raise funds for Alder Hey, and to support the family while Hudson is in hospital, with self-employed Saul currently unable to earn money. "I want to raise awareness because it's such a bad condition," added Georgia.

"He's only 15 days old and he's had number of transfusions already, platelets replaced and three haemorrhages." To see the GoFundMe click here.
