A robber who allegedly tried to steal from a nail salon was forced to leave after he was roundly ignored.

The strange encounter saw the Nail First salon in Atlanta come under an attempted siege from a lacklustre robber, but the people inside appeared confused instead of scared.

The suspect is heard on video yelling "Everybody get down! Give me your money! Give me your money!"

In surveillance footage captured from the scene, the suspect is seen keeping his right hand concealed inside a bag as though he is holding some form of weapon.

Four people sitting by the window appear to make minimal reactions as the suspect entered and attempted his crime.

She stepped outside as the situation calms down and the suspect gave up trying to intimidate his would-be victims.

"Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit are asking for assistance from the public in an ongoing investigation," said Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta. "Witnesses indicated the suspect entered the location wearing a blue hat, sunglasses, and blue jeans."

The suspect has not been named, but authorities said he left in a silver sedan.

Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.

In Georgia, robbery is a serious criminal offence that can see perpetrators convicted of the crime sentenced to "prison sentence for a period of one to twenty years," according to Georgia Criminal Lawyer.

The experts added: "The consequences for robbing a person aged 65 or older increases the prison term to no less than five years and no more than twenty.

"If you receive a conviction for robbery a second time, you could face a lifetime prison sentence."

Those inside the salon at the time could have been forgiven for being more frightened than they let on.

The salon is located close to a series of shootings that took place at spas in the city in 2021.

Eight people were killed by perpetrator Robert Aaron Long after a shooting spree in the metropolitan area of the city.

The string of shootings at three businesses in March 2021 ignited outrage and fuelled fear among Asian Americans, who already faced increased hostility linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

Many were particularly upset when authorities suggested Long’s crimes weren’t racially motivated but born of a sex addiction, which isn’t recognised as an official disorder.

Long was convicted and given a life sentence.
