BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt grilled by Naga Munchetty in awkward discussion

Charlie Stayt awkwardly refused to answer questions from his BBC Breakfast co-anchor Naga Munchetty during Thursday's instalment of the programme.

The pair returned to the famous red sofa alongside one another as they discussed the daily headlines, including the global search to find the missing Titanic Titan submarine.

Elsewhere on the show, which is broadcasted live from the BBC studios in MediaCity UK, the pair discussed a string of their habits around the house after reading the headline of a newspaper.

One headline read: "So, do you have a favourite gas ring?" with results stating that 57% of Brits keep to a certain routine around their homes.

Addressing her pal, Naga asked: "Are you a creature of habit?", as Charlie responded: "Quite a bit, yeah, I would say so."

"I'll just put my pen exactly there while I'm talking, carry on," he said to Naga while showing he may have some habits around the studio too.

Naga, 48, asked: "Do you know when you cook and you put something on the hob, you have a favoured gas ring?", before Charlie confirmed he did.

He added: "So I didn't think about this - and I don't think it's unusual, but there's this story in the [Daily] Mail today, there's this survey, 2,000 people polled.

"57 percent admitted enjoying a routine, and I'd like to think I wasn't wedded to a routine but I do think I am."

Reflecting on the story, Naga said: "So I was looking at this list, right - just say yay or nay. Sleep on the same side of the bed every night?" before Charlie confirmed he did.

She continued: "Do the same supermarket shop?" however, Charlie responded: "I'm not going to answer all these questions," before adding: "What's the gas ring thing? Can we get to the gas ring?"

"Have tea in the same mug every day?" Naga went on to ask, as Charlie replied: "No, no, no no. Well, I do when I'm here..."

Naga asked: "Ordering the same thing when getting a takeaway?" but Charlie wasn't impressed as he intervened, saying: "Anyway... What about the gas ring?"

But his co-anchor failed to ask whether he had a favourite gas ring on the stove at his family home.

Naga said: "I'd like to think I was a creature of variety and everything but obviously, I'm not," while Charlie asked what harm could it do having a routine – to which Naga agreed there is no harm.
