When called out by your child's teacher about your behaviour on an 'adult trip', some parents might be completely and utterly mortified and left wanting to crawl back into bed and hide their flaming face.

But food writer Jenny Mollen, 44, took a complaint from her son's teacher in stride and decided to respond with her own cheeky message.

The mum, who is married to American Pie actor Jason Biggs, was on a trip to Copenhagen at the time when she received a message from the educator, claiming her son had said some concerning things in class about what she was up to on holiday.

While away, it seems the parent enjoyed some traditional Danish food at Noma, a three-starred Michelin restaurant, that had a unique dish of reindeer penis ragout on the menu.

This delicacy had been mentioned to Jenny's son and he'd decided to report back on it to the other children at school.

The mum revealed the hilarious incident in a post on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of an email from the teacher, who is called Karen.

The email read: "Dear Ms. Biggs, today in school your son shared with his classmates that you are in Copenhagen on an adult trip and have been eating (pardon my language) 'tons of penis'.

"While I hate to bother you on your vacation, I felt strongly that you should be aware and perhaps address the issue at your earliest convenience."

Jenny's response to this was pitch perfect, as she quickly sent back: "Dear Karen, he's not lying. I have been eating tons of penis on this trip. Def gonna need to reign it in when I get home. Thank you so much for checking in on me. See you at drop off!"

Alongside the email, she attached a photo of the restaurant's menu to illustrate her point.

People were left in stitches over the exchange between the two women, with one person saying: "This is the content we need in this terrifying world. Thank you."

"Fabulous exchange," said another, "I laughed out loud."

While a fellow teacher replied: "I'm a teacher (granted I teach high school) and I would laugh if a kid said that. I might give you a heads up and tell the kid that is interesting, but we should save that talk for another time."

"Omg I'm dead," said another. "I wish someone was there to film her face when she read that response."
