Families who lost a loved one to Covid are disgusted by the video published by the Mirror that shows Tories shamelessly partying in their HQ during lockdown.

Police are now reviewing the footage. In the meantime, two prominent Conservatives who were at that unforgivable bash – Shaun Bailey and Ben Mallet – must be stripped of proposed honours.

If frightened Rishi Sunak fails to call for them to be removed from disgraced Boris Johnson’s dishonourable list of shame, the Prime Minister is complicit in a scandal rewarding those who treated the country with contempt.

The laughing Tories captured dancing and drinking alcohol on December 14, 2020 at a gathering held by the campaign team of then London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey stuck two fingers up at the nation.

It is immaterial that Bailey – nominated for a peerage by Johnson – left the bash before the video was taken. Mallet, awarded an OBE by Johnson, does appear in the footage.

Partygate is about much more than Johnson’s rule-breaking and lying to MPs.

As our video shows, a significant section of the Conservative Party acted as if the rules didn’t apply to the rulers.

Sunak, fined himself for a breach, must take a principled lead or he’ll forever be damned.

Bang to rights

Let's hope the unconvicted killers of Stephen Lawrence are trembling with fear.

Officers are reviewing forensic evidence 30 years after the murder.

Scientific advances might be the key to finally locking up those who still walk free.

If there’s any justice they’ll soon be getting a 6am bang on the door from the police.

Cole emotion

football star Andy Cole’s emotional account of solidarity and racism experienced by his coal miner dad shows the best and worst of Britain.

Only by honestly discussing the state of the nation can we build the country we all want.
