Two-time Super Bowl champion Frank Clark has been snapped up by the Denver Broncos after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clark spent his final day with the Chiefs on Wednesday as he travelled with his former teammates to meet President Joe Biden at the White House in celebration of their Super Bowl victory. The 29-year-old has now moved swiftly onto his next chapter by signing a one-year deal in the Mile High City.

The former Seattle Seahawks star pass rusher, who came up with 2.5 sacks in the playoffs as the Chiefs lifted the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in four years, has inked a contract worth up to $7.5million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

That deal includes a guaranteed base salary of $5.5m for the three-time Pro Bowl defensive end, with $1m in achievable incentives and $1m in more challenging incentives.

Clark's move to Denver means he remains in the AFC West and will face the Chiefs twice next season, first on the road on October 13 in Week Six before welcoming his former teammates to Mile High on October 29 in Week Eight.

Clark has racked up 72 career sacks and produced big plays in the post-season for the Chiefs, but his regular season returns have declined since he moved to Kansas City from the Pacific North West in 2019.

After accumulating eight sacks in his first year at Arrowhead Stadium, he has notched up six, 4.5 and five in the subsequent three seasons, prompting the Chiefs to move on and look at other younger options, releasing him in March.

Clark joins Sean Payton's rebuild at Mile High Stadium after a hugely disappointing 5-12 season following the huge trade for Russell Wilson last summer. Clark has reunited with his former Seahawks quarterback and believes he is in the right place to continue his career.

"The situation with Sean Payton is good for me," Clark told CBS Sports' Josina Anderson. "I get to play alongside Randy Gregory and stay in my division that I am very familiar with. I also want to help the Broncos get back to the mountaintop."

Clark's arrival continues a busy off-season for the Broncos, which has seen Sean Payton and general manager George Paton focus on improving both lines of scrimmage.

Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey have joined from the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers, respectively, to bolster the offensive line, while Clarke adds another pass rush threat after the arrival of Zach Allen from the Arizona Cardinals.
