With over 1,000 goals being scored in the Premier League this season, you’d have been forgiven for thinking that goalkeepers in the top flight haven’t quite been at their usual standards.

That couldn’t be further from the truth though with a number of stoppers having shone throughout the campaign. Manchester United star David de Gea already has the Golden Glove under lock and key with 17 clean sheets - the second time he has claimed the award in his career.

Does that mean he has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League? Not quite…

Take a look at our end-of-season power rankings for those men stationed between the sticks based on their prime task, keeping the ball out of the net:

10) David De Gea

This season’s golden glove winner is actually right at the borrom of our list. The Spaniard’s 17 clean sheets this term is enough for him to claim the award, with that record potentially helping the Red Devils to a place in the Champions League.

The 32-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford is expiring this summer and could potentially be going out on a high should he not agree fresh terms with United. Despite keeping the most shutouts this term, his save percentage of 70.9 according to FBRef ranks him below a few on this list, whilst errors have crept into his game once again throughout the season.

9) Jordan Pickford

Still England ’s number one pick between the sticks, Pickford has justified that selection on a number of occasions this term. His 71.1 save percentage is certainly respectable, whilst his recent penalty save against Leicester could well keep Everton in the top-flight.

There is no doubt that the former Sunderland stopper could have done better on a few occasions this term but he still remains as one of the most consistent stoppers in the Premier League.

8) Alisson

Despite Liverpool not managing to match their previously high standards this term, one man who cannot be blamed is Brazilian stopper Alisson. The 30-year-old has continually shone at Anfield since his arrival from Roma and this season is no different.

He has saved 72.1% of the shots he has faced, whilst he was also still in the running for the golden glove until last week. Meanwhile, he has also been reliable from the spot with 50% of the penalties he has faced this term failing to find the back of the net.

Alisson will be key once again next term as Jurgen Klopp attempts to get the Reds back on track.

7) Vicente Guaita

One of a clutch of Spaniards to appear on this list, Crystal Palace veteran Vicente Guaita has continued to perform very well for the Eagles this term. His save percentage sits at 72.4% throughout the campaign despite what was a tough start for Palace.

The 36-year-old has fallen out of the side over recent weeks due to injury and he appears unlikely to appear on the last day of the campaign but he is still deserving of a place in this list.

6) Kepa Arrizabalaga

Still the most expensive stopper in football history, Kepa has ousted Edouard Mendy as Chelsea ’s number one this season with 27 appearances in the Premier League. Despite the Blues’ struggles this term, the former Athletic Club stopper has still performed relatively well.

He has managed to keep out 73.8% of the shots that he has faced throughout the season and has a respectable record of nine clean sheets to his name this term. All that has taken place among the backdrop of Chelsea’s woeful form this term and could have been much worse had it not been for Kepa.

5) Emi Martinez

Possibly more known for his hijinx during the World Cup in Qatar, the Argentine has continued to display why he is one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League this term. Across the 35 games that he has played this season, he has 11 clean sheets.

That record ensured that he became a Villa record holder with the most shutouts in his first 100 Premier League appearances for the club. He only just slips behind Pope and Neto due to his marginally worse save percentage of 74.2.

4) Neto

Somewhat of a surprise inclusion, the Brazilian has just a conservative six clean sheets during his debut campaign with Bournemouth. That record might have been considerably worse had it not been for the former Barcelona star.

Neto has saved 74.6% of the shots that he has faced throughout the campaign. He is certainly a big improvement on the Cherries’ other stopper Mark Travers and has been a huge reason behind them staying in the Premier League.

3) Nick Pope

Arguably one of the star performers during what has been a stunning season for Newcastle, the former Burnley man has displayed his shot-stopping instincts once again. Of the goalkeepers to appear in every game this term, he has only picked the ball out of his net on 32 occasions.

He has also managed to save two penalties this term - the joint-most in the Premier League. Pope’s performances, accompanied by a 74.6 save percentage, have been huge reasons behind Eddie Howe’s men securing their spot in the Champions League.

2) Bernd Leno

Former Arsenal stopper Leno had plenty to prove as he quit the Emirates for Craven Cottage last summer. He has certainly done that throughout what has been a stunning season for Fulham.

His 77.2% save percentage has helped Marco Silva's men to an impressive top-half finish during their first season back in the Premier League. The German has eight shutouts to his name and has certainly responded to his doubters in emphatic fashion.

1) David Raya

A Spanish goalkeeper named David tops the list? Shock. Although, it’s probably not the one you think.

The Brentford stopper has been in fine form for the Bees this season and boasts an eye-catching save percentage of 77.4%. That has seen him accumulate 11 clean sheets throughout the campaign.

His form could see him earn a summer move with the likes of Man United and Tottenham thought to be tracking him.
