BBC axes two huge prime time shows in major blow to Paddy McGuinness

Paddy McGuinness has been hit with a huge blow as it's been reported two of his BBC shows have been dropped.

The Top Gear presenter has built up an impressive portfolio ever since he was poached from ITV but his Saturday night offerings have failed to escape the chopping block.

Paddy presents I Can See Your Voice, Top Gear, Question of Sport and Catchpoint but half of these shows will no longer air on the BBC.

It's been reported I Can See Your Voice, which launched in 2021 and and Catchpoint, which began in 2019 will not be renewed for further series.

A TV insider said: “This will come as a real blow to Paddy, who’s made a firm commitment to the Beeb since he quit ITV four years ago.

“Both I Can See Your Voice and Catchpoint saw him retain his place as a star of Saturday night TV, something he forged fronting dating favourite Take Me Out on ITV. But these axings mean that’s effectively gone, so he’s likely to be looking for new projects to fill the void.

“He remains hugely popular with viewers, who see him as a relatable and funny bloke they want to welcome into their living rooms."

"He is likely to bounce back in some way," the TV source told The Sun.

Mirror Online has contacted BBC for comment on the reports.

The second series of I Can See Your Voice aired just months ago and concluded in December 2022 while series two of Catchpoint was last broadcast in June 2022.

I Can See Your Voice involved an all-star cast of judges including Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Jimmy Carr being tasked with correctly guessing the identity of the real singer as the contestants lip sync to their own voices.

Saturday night quiz show Catchpoint saw a pair of contestants tasked with answering questions before catching balls that are dropped from trap doors above the correct answer.

The show's one simply rule was don't drop the ball with Paddy also hosting celebrity versions of the quiz.

Elsewhere, Top Gear was recently plunged into crisis when Paddy's co-host Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured in a cash during filming.

Paddy's other show Question of Sport came under fire after the BBC rejigged the format replacing Sue Barker in 2021.
