Starbucks has three new drinks joining their ranks and honestly? They're some of the most unusual I've ever seen grace the menu - and that's including the hot strawberry and vanilla coffee they decided to come out with last year.

The new Oleato range includes extra virgin olive oil, it's something I consume quite often but usually with pasta or in my food rather than mixed in with my coffee.

Having already launched in Italy, Japan and the US earlier this year the new drinks are finally available for Brits to try. The Oleato uses Partanna Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil, with innovators on the team working closely with the family behind the oil to make this a reality.

Only two of the drinks are available without dairy, this is what I thought:

Starbucks Oleato Golden Foam™

I didn't get to try this one as the foam is only available with dairy. This one has been described as the 'most consistent' tasting drink as the creamy foam keeps the olive oil emulsified.

Many people who normally don't enjoy cold brew have said that this new drink is one that made them change their mind on cold brew.

Starbucks Oleato™ Iced Shaken Espresso

This one really surprised me as I didn't expect to like it. They topped olive oil and syrup with ice then poured over espresso, shook it until it had all mixed then added in oat milk.

It was spicy and peppery in the back of my throat but somehow still managed to have me coming back for more. It's unlike any coffee I've had and the flavour changed as I sipped it with the ice melting.

I liked it more than I expected to.

Starbucks Oleato™ Caffè Latte

A spoonful of olive oil heated with oat milk didn't sound like the base of a great drink to me but it actually surprised me. The oil gives it a velvety finish and coated my tongue.

Normally I find the oat milk to be a little too sweet but in this format it worked perfectly, the olive oil cutting through some of the sweetness and it reminded me of baking at home.

It tastes healthier than my usual caramel latte and I honestly think that this could be the drink to convert me away from syrups.

Would you try?

At the minute the Oleato is only available in 50 select stores in London, you can find out if you nearest store is on the list here.
