Cristiano Ronaldo 'brutally snubbed' by English club as Al-Nassr exit eyed

Non-league side Bromley emphatically turned down the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo amid doubt over his Al-Nassr future.

The Portuguese forward only arrived in Saudi Arabia back in December after an explosive exit from Manchester United. It appears that he already wants to bid farewell though.

According to reports in Spain, Ronaldo is desperate to leave Al-Nassr and is eyeing a return to former club Real Madrid. That appears easier said than done though with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez not interested in facilitating an emotional reunion with the striker at the Santiago Bernabeu in the immediate future at the very least.

He is instead only willing to offer him an ambassadorial role with the reigning European champions come the end of his career, something that Ronaldo is not tempted by as of yet. Now, National League side Bromley have had their own fun at the forward’s expense.

Responding to reports of Ronaldo’s wish to leave Al-Nassr, Vanarama, the sponsors of the non-league game, tweeted a mocked-up image of him wearing a Bromley shirt with the caption: “It's not too late if you want to play in white next season, @Cristiano,” alongside a pair of eyes emoji.

Bromley simply replied: “Nah, you're alright,” as they rejected the chance to take the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to Hayes Lane.

That brutal tweet is just the latest in a long line of blows that Ronaldo has sustained over the last few months. He left Old Trafford under a cloud following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

A world record deal worth £173million per year took him to Saudi club Al-Nassr and he enjoyed a bright start to life on the pitch. The 38-year-old has scored 12 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions since then.

Not all has gone to plan for Ronaldo with his side Al-Nassr relinquishing the top spot in the Saudi League to Al-Ittihad. They were also eliminated from the King Cup of Champions by Al-Wehda.

He has been spotted in furious arguments with his own coaching staff, whilst manager Rudi Garcia was sacked earlier this season following an indifferent run of form. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has also faced calls to be deported following an obscene gesture as he left the pitch.

Lawyer Nouf bin Ahmed responded on social media: "It is considered a crime of public dishonour, and it is one of the crimes that entail arrest and deportation if committed by a foreigner," he also signalled his intent to file a complaint to the Saudi Prosecutor's Office for his "crime of public indecency".

While they will not be signing Ronaldo any time soon, Bromley will be hoping to earn promotion over the closing weeks of the campaign. They take on Woking in the National League playoffs on Wednesday evening.
