Karl Lagerfeld 's cat's new owners have responded to rumours the feline will be a guest at this year's Met Gala later this evening.
The late designer - who passed away in 2019 - is being honoured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City tonight as part of the annual fashion event.
The theme of this year's event is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, in tribute to the figure who was the creative director of fashion house Chanel and had his own eponymous label.
In light of the theme, there had been some speculation that his eleven-year-old cat Choupette may be a special guest at the museum this evening.

This year's event is themed around the late fashion designer who died in 2019 (Instagram)It has however now been announced on an Instagram account for Choupette - which is run by marketing agency My Pet Agency - that she won't be attending the event.

A message to her supporters was shared this afternoon alongside two photos of the feline, who's said to have been under the care of Karl from around 2011 until his death.
The caption read: "A million thanks to all of you my fans, animal lovers and Daddy's admirers. You have all shown the kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support."
It then continued: "Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the [Met Gala this year] in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully and cozy at home."
An account for the cat however has denied her attendance (Instagram/choupetteofficiel)"We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him. With love, forever Choupette," the post concluded.
The post has amassed more than 20,000 likes and it comes after a previous post on the account teased recently: "Everyone is wondering if I'm going to the Met Gala".
Last week, Kim Kardashian shared photos of Choupette, writing: "Had a date with [her] in Paris. We then spent some time at [Karl's brand's] office to get a little inspiration for the Met".
It's been previously reported that Choupette has enjoyed a pampered life, with her described as "a spoiled princess" and Karl once saying that she had two personal maids.
