An announcer for the Houston Astros appeared to fire a dig in the direction of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass, after he went viral for his complaints aimed at United Airlines this week.

Bass was outraged after a flight attendant ordered his 22-week pregnant wife to get on her hands and knees to clean up popcorn that had been dropped by their toddler. Bass' family were travelling on a United Airlines flight when in-flight crews noticed that popcorn had spilled onto the floor, and asked his wife to sort out the mess.

The Blue Jays star took to Twitter to express his anger, even engaging in a conversation with the customer service team at United Airlines. However, his post backfired as many began to mock Bass for being 'entitled', and now even an Astros announcer couldn't help but get in on the joke.

Bass had a short stint at the Astros back in 2014, but there was no love lost by announcer Geoff Blum as he made a sly comment as the Blue Jays pitcher took to the mound against his former side. "Your new pitcher is ex-Astro Anthony Bass on to try and clean it up," Blum said at the bottom of fifth.

The Blue Jays didn't have a good day at the office, losing 9-2 as Bass had an off day following his online activity. Bass received a mixed reaction as he complained about a United Airlines attendant, and also stated that 'cleaning crews' should sort out any spilled food.

"The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter," Bass tweeted. "Are you kidding me?!?!"

And when asked who he thought should sort any mess in a sarcastic response, Bass replied: "The cleaning crew they hire!" But despite some backlash, United Airlines did respond and assure Bass that they will look into the issue.

"Hi there, Anthony. We certainly understand your concern and we'd like to look into this," the airline responded with in minutes. "When you have a moment, please DM your wife's confirmation number along with any additional details regarding her interaction with this crew member."

Bass then took to Twitter again and said: "Thank you everyone for the support, United Airlines is taking care of matters with the flight attendant internally." He later tweeted a picture of his daughter with a giant bag of popcorn, as he made light of the incident.
