Ryan Reynolds' new Welsh neighbours have asked the Hollywood superstar if he wants to go for a pint down the local boozer.

Reynolds is buying a mansion in the Welsh village of Marford after falling in love with the Welsh countryside. The actor co-owns Wrexham, who are aiming to win the National League title this season and end a 15-year absence from the English Football League.

Reynolds and his partner Blake Lively want somewhere to stay when travelling to Wales for Wrexham's big games and have found a lovely £1.5million house in Marford. Unsurprisingly, the village's residents can't wait for the actors to become their neighbours.

"I think it’s very good for the town," Marford resident Tracey Nevitt told the BBC. "It means a lot that he is choosing to stay in Wrexham. The people of Marford truly are the salt of the earth, so I think Ryan chose well."

Marford is located around six miles north of Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, making it the perfect Welsh home for Reynolds, Lively and their four children: James, 8, Inez, 6, Betty, 3, and their new-born baby. The family have not confirmed their purchase yet.

The village has a population of around 2,500, with the average house costing £479,600 - according to Rightmove. Reynolds' property is said to be on Marford's most exclusive road.

"Ryan is moving to Marford and it’s all the locals can talk about," a source told The Sun. "His house is the on the poshest road. The most famous person from Marford is Tim Vincent from Blue Peter, so a Hollywood star is a step up! It might not be the Big Apple but the red carpet will be rolled out when Ryan comes to town."

Tracey's colleague Jessica Jenkins has echoed her thoughts and is excited to enjoy a pint with Reynolds and Lively in the local pub, The Red Lion, when they're in town. Yet the Hollywood pair will not be the first stars to grace Marford, as Tracey protests.

She added: "He’s not the first star here. We’ve got Dennis Taylor [the 1985 world snooker champion] just down the road and Steve Cooper [the Nottingham Forest manager]. So we’re quite used to it."

And Maguz Malik, the owner of The Red Lion, is looking forward to pouring that pint. "It's caused a real buzz in the village, many of the locals are excited that such a huge star is going to be living here," Malik told the Daily Mail.

"Ryan seems like a real down to earth guy and I think he'll fit in around here. It's a friendly and welcoming place to live. I'm sure he'll love it as much as us. And he's more than welcome in the pub, we'll have a pint waiting for him."

Wrexham need to take seven points from their final four league games to confirm their promotion to League Two. They achieved a famous victory against promotion rivals Notts County in their last outing, with Ben Foster saving a last-minute penalty.
