Police have made an arrest after a man was found dead outside a theme park.

The 33-year-old was taken into custody by Lincolnshire Police after Gareth Hart, 42, was found dead on Thursday.

Bosses at the nearby Fantasy Island in Skegness, Lincolnshire, reduced access to its rides while investigations by officials were carried out.

A 30-year-old man arrested in the investigation was released with no further action by the force.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: "We can now confirm the man who died following an incident in Ingoldmells, in the early hours of Thursday morning (6 April) was 43-year-old Gareth Hart, from Rotherham.

"His family have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

"We continue to investigate and anyone with information, or anyone with dashcam footage in the Roman Bank area between 9pm on 5 April and 3am the following day, should contact us on 101, quoting Incident 22 of 6 April.

"We have arrested a 33-year-old man, from Derbyshire, on suspicion of murder."

Fantasy Island yesterday posted access to the site was limited because of the investigations.

They advised: "We are open today from 11am as advertised, however due to a police incident, access to our site is limited. Pedestrian access is available from Ingoldmells Village only at this time.

"Some of our operational procedures may be adapted, and there may be some ride closures in place in order to respect the sensitivity of the incident."

Some people suggested the park should have shut entirely as police carried out investigations.

One said: "It would probably be better and more respectful if the park was closed for the day.

"The incident sounds very serious since the road has been closed since 3am and a forensic tent has been seen.

"It’s not the wisest of ideas for families to bring children so close to a serious crime scene when the police have asked that people avoid the area.
