Jorge Masvidal slams "brain-injured" UFC rival Colby Covington in X-rated blast

Jorge Masvidal has blasted "brain-injured" rival Colby Covington as their UFC feud continues to escalate.

Masvidal will return this weekend in another grudge match against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in Miami, as he looks to spark one final run towards the 170lb title held by Leon Edwards. 'Gamebred' will look to make a successful comeback after a long and arduous rivalry with Covington ended in defeat after being dominated in their meeting last year.

Despite having seemingly settled their dispute inside the cage, the pair have been trading brutal back and forth verbal barbs since the fight and have even been involved in a physical altercation outside of competitive action. And it is clear the feeling has continued for Masvidal who has aimed a latest vicious rant at 'Chaos' on his fight week preview.

Masvidal said at the UFC 287 fight week media day: "Those things about Colby fighting Leon, those are rumours. That dude has a brain injury, like I said. I got three felonies on my head because this guy's saying, 'I have got a brain injury.' I'm pretty sure on a medical level, you can't fight if you have a brain injury.

“The UFC is going to get sued if that guy goes in there and something like that happens. Because supposedly, allegedly because I didn’t do s**t, he says I gave him a brain injury. I didn’t do s**t to him. Of course. He’s an attention-seeking-a** wh**e, he’s going to be there. He’s going to be saying all types of crazy s***. He’s only the king of calling cops and sucking c****.

"I don’t give a flying f*ck. All I know is he has a restraining order on me. I have to stay 100 feet away from this individual. I don’t even know why he would even put such a thing on me, because I’m just the coolest guy. My mind is still blown as to why he has a restraining order on me and then he’s claiming he’s the kind of I don’t know what. Whatever.”

Masvidal has a significant task on his hands this weekend if he is to restore momentum in his UFC career with a loss likely to derail his career and see him consider retirement. He could face a wait for a shot at the 170lb title however with UFC president Dana White suggesting Covington is next in line to face Edwards.

However the Briton is not too keen on a potential clash with the proposed challenger, insisting: "Like I said, I'm the king now. I've earned my way. I feel I should decide who's next. He hasn't fought for over a year-and-a-half. Sat out, not injured. I just don't get how he just slides in for the world title shot when there's other guys in the division that's been active."
