A woman said she "blacked out" as she allegedly stabbed her partner to death in their home, in front of their baby and the victim's four-year-old.

Liliana Cervantes, a 25-year-old woman, has been accused of stabbing her fiancé, Nathan Freeman, to death in their apartment in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas.

The deceased reportedly was the father of three girls. Their 6-month-old daughter and Cervantes' 4-year-old child reportedly were present at the scene of the tragic murder.

Mr Freeman's mother, Tessa, has spoken out about the incident, saying that her son and Cervantes had been together for two years and that the couple seemed happy.

"My husband and I went to visit them for Thanksgiving, and they seemed perfectly happy. We had dinner with her parents and it was great," she recalled. "They just moved to the apartment. We had a great time."

Cervantes met her alleged victim on Facebook and they both already had children then. The couple were engaged and planning to get married with the ceremony scheduled for this fall.

Tessa Freeman is now fighting for custody of her granddaughter, who is currently with Cervantes' family.

"Since she is being charged, I want my grandbaby," Tessa Freeman said, speaking from her home in Lubbock, just hours after her son's funeral on Tuesday.

"That is the only thing I have from my son," she told ABC 13.

In the probable cause court appearance, Cervantes told police that she blacked out during the stabbing.

"The officer stated that she woke up with water being splashed on her and the baby, and she blacked out again," read the hearing officer.

"The next thing she remembers (is) trying to stitch the complainant up and calling 911."

Officers found a butcher knife and another sharp-edged object in the kitchen, as well as bloody footprints in the home.

Based on these pieces of evidence, investigators believe that Cervantes stabbed Freeman multiple times in the apartment while their two young children were present.

However, the exact details of how the crime occurred have not been released, and the case is still under investigation.

Tessa Freeman expressed her disbelief at Cervantes' statement that she blacked out during the stabbing and wants to fight for justice for her son.

"I don't believe her. I don't believe anything she says. I think she was just making it up to try to cover her butt, so yeah, I got to get justice for my son now," she said.

Cervantes has been arrested and is currently being held on a $150,000 bond. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help cover Freeman's funeral expenses.

The organiser, a niece of Tessa writes on the page: "Due to an unforeseen and tragic incident my Aunt Tessa Freeman is left to figure out how to bring her son home from Houston and hold a memorial service.

"No mother should ever have to do that. Nathan will be truly missed. He was the father of three beautiful girls!

"He was full of life and now gone too soon! Please help us raise money to get his body back to Lubbock."
