Marcus Rashford has been fined and handed penalty points on his driving licence after admitting to speeding in Manchester last year.

The Manchester United forward, 25, was driving through the city centre when he exceeded the limit of 20 miles per hour. The incident occurred in May 2022 and Rashford admitted the offence, leading to Manchester Magistrates' Court handing him a £574 fine, according to The Sun. The England international has also been handed six penalty points on his licence.

Rashford has not let this off-pitch distraction impact his performances for United this season. The boyhood Red Devil is the most in-form player in the Premier League and was on the scoresheet yet again in Wednesday night's 2-2 draw at home to Leeds.

Erik ten Hag's side went two goals down thanks to Wilfried Gnoto's first-minute opener and an own-goal from Raphael Varane shortly after half-time. Fortunately for the hosts, Rashford sparked a recovery with a tremendous header from Diogo Dalot's cross just after the hour mark before Jadon Sancho came off the bench to equalise eight minutes later.

Rashford's goal took his tally for the season to 20 in all competitions, 11 of which have come in his 22 top-flight appearances. It also saw him match Wayne Rooney's feat of scoring in six consecutive league games at Old Trafford - something no other Red Devil had managed for over a decade.

Rashford lined up on the right wing against Leeds during the first half but shifted to the opposite flank after the interval and ended up playing through the middle, where he appeared most threatening during the latter stages of the match. Ten Hag was asked where he will deploy the in-form marksman as the Red Devils travel to Elland Road on Sunday for the second of two fixtures in five days with Leeds.

The Dutchman replied: "Against Burnley, he scored from the right. Great goals. Marcus can score from anywhere, it doesn't matter if it is in the right, the centre or the left. He is scoring everywhere and, today, he scored again."

Reflecting on his decision to shift Rashford to centre-forward in the second half against Leeds, Ten Hag added: "It's difficult to analyse but I think after we made that change it's different for the opponent, it's difficult for the opponent, because the dynamic changed. The defenders are in a certain way.

"They are anticipating on a certain attack then all of a sudden everything is changing, where we moved not only Rashford but we brought in Sancho and we brought in [Facundo] Pellistri. That changes the game as we did Saturday as well, then he takes benefit from that situation, I think."
