The Manchester United squad may still have another week to recharge their batteries ahead of the final leg of the Premier League season, but it's anything but quiet at Old Trafford right now.

The ongoing takeover saga has dominated the narrative surrounding the club in recent weeks and the likes of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are now playing a waiting game after finally submitting their revised bids over the course of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag will be watching with bated breath as a host of his playing squad participate in the first round of Euro 2024 qualifiers. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around Old Trafford...

Ten Hag decision backfires

Erik ten Hag's decision to keep hold of Anthony Elanga in January appears to have backfired after the winger admitted that he's far from happy with his current role.

The Sweden international, 20, was the subject of interest from various clubs in January including Barcelona and Everton, who were both keen to acquire his services on a short-term loan.

Former Chelsea striker and talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino believes Gareth Southgate "wouldn't be pleased" with Marcus Rashford's decision to jet off to New York after withdrawing from international duty.

Rashford has enjoyed a fine season for club and country but pulled out of this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers after picking up a knock in United's FA Cup win over Fulham last weekend.

Southgate hinted that he was less than impressed in comments made after Rashford was snapped in the United States - and Cascarino believes the Three Lions boss has every right to be unhappy with the striker.

Former Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick believes Marcel Sabitzer is playing with more confidence after linking up with Erik ten Hag on deadline day.

Rangnick was in charge at Old Trafford last term on an interim basis and was set to work alongside Ten Hag in a consultancy role before plans were changed at Ten Hag's behest.

But Rangnick was quick to point out that Sabitzer is benefitting from his decision to join United on loan after he scored twice and registered an assist in Austria's 4-1 win over Azerbaijan on Friday night.
