Los Angeles Lakers have already won an NBA title with Anthony Davis in the side, but it's made him even hungrier for success to be no.1.

It's been a rollercoaster season for the Lakers, but they're now sporting an even record after an awful start to the campaign. A playoff spot is still potentially up for grabs, but that's just the start for Davis.

The 30-year-old is tasked with holding down the fort while LeBron James is out injured, although his return to form has come at the perfect time with the Lakers chasing down a ticket to the postseason. It's a place where they should be as a franchise, and Davis is set on adding to his legacy in Los Angeles, and bringing glory back to the Lakers.

The Lakers aren't just one of the most famous NBA teams, they're also tied with the Boston Celtics as the most successful. Both franchises have won 17 NBA titles, although it's the Celtics that look better placed to make it 18 at present.

It would be an almighty comeback if the Lakers were to somehow accomplish the ultimate success this season, but it's something that Davis is striving towards. "To be a part of the legacy already of winning a championship, you want to win more," Davis said to ESPN.

"We’re tied with Boston at 17, it’s like, I want to be part of the one that makes it 18 and this franchise No. 1." Although Davis only traded to the Lakers in 2019 from New Orleans Pelicans, he has been loosely linked with a trade in recent windows.

With James simply untouchable in trade talks for the Lakers, and their form hitting new lows, there were rumours that Davis could be moved on in order to start a rebuild. However, it was Russell Westbrook that made way earlier this season, and they appear to be back on track.

Davis still has two years left on his current deal, and has recently said he has no intention of leaving LA in the near future. "I love being in L.A. My family loves it. I love playing for the Lakers," Davis said.

"When the time is up, honestly, I’m not sure the direction the team wants to go or who knows the conversation we’ll have. But when the time comes, we’ll sit down, have those conversations and go from there."
