A man almost died after losing consciousness while having sex with his wife and passing out on top of her.

The man, 42, from Surabaya in Indonesia's East Java, was mid-coitus when he experienced an aneurysm, leaving him with severe brain damage.

After collapsing on his spouse, he vomited on the floor and suffered weakness up and down one side of his body.

He was taken to A&E and during the three-hour journey he had multiple full body seizures.

The case was shared in Radiology Case Reports, where medics said the man didn't have a history of trauma, headaches or drug use.

They added that he hadn't taken blood thinners of sexual aphrodisiacs before his brain exploded.

His devastated partner reported that the eyelid on the left side of his face started closing slightly around two months earlier.

This was a clear indication that there was an underlying issue.

Doctors discovered the man had suffered a brain aneurysm - which happens when the wall of a blood vessel balloons.

As they boinked, the aneurysm exploded and caused an acute subdural haematoma - which happens when blood pools between the skull and brain and is often fatal.

Though medics haven't revealed the cause of the bursting blood vessel, others said it could've been due to strenuous exercise that caused a heart rate spike.

The current mortality rate for the acute subdural haematoma is roughly 50 per cent, with another half of surviving victims being left with brain damage or disability.

After performing tests on his sight, speech and responses, doctors learned he had suffered a severe brain injury.

He was offered anti-seizure medication and underwent surgery a week later in the hopes of relieving the swelling and pressure, and repairing the aneurysm.

Thankfully, the man recovered the use of the right side of his body but was left with permenant damage to the nerves in his left eye, which helps with focus and muscle movement.
