Adrien Rabiot's mother could be set to get the last laugh over her son's future after the midfielder admitted he is a massive fan of Steven Gerrard and Liverpool.

Last summer, the 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. However, the transfer collapsed due to a standstill in negotiations with his agent, who is in fact his mum.

It was later revealed that the dispute was over how much Rabiot would be earning. After pulling out of the deal, the Red Devils decided to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid, before completing a temporary move for Marcel Sabitzer in January.

Now, the Juventus star has opened up on his future and revealed his admiration for Liverpool, hinting that he could be ready to move to Anfield at the end of the season. Rabiot, who is out of contract in the summer, could be set to make the switch to the Premier League - and he may have plenty of suitors.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding his future with several European clubs linked, Rabiot spoke about his allegiances to Liverpool and how he became a fan of the Merseyside club. He also revealed how he admires Steven Gerrard, who made 749 club appearances in his career and won the Champions League at the Reds.

In an interview with tuttosport.com, Rabiot said: "I liked Liverpool so much because I was a fan of Steven Gerrard who made me dream and therefore I followed the Reds."

Rabiot impressed for France at the Qatar World Cup and played 96 minutes in the final as Didier Deschamps' side were beaten on penalties by Argentina. He has also shone in the Juventus team this season, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 33 appearances from centre midfield.

The experienced midfielder joined Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has since played over 150 matches for the Old Lady, winning the Serie A on one occasion. However, it doesn't look like Rabiot will be signing an extension to the contract that runs out this summer and will therefore be allowed to depart for free.

When asked about his Juventus future, Rabiot added: "At the moment, there's no news, but we'll certainly talk soon. "Because in about two months the season will be over and we'll try to discuss it, but I'm calm. There is the possibility of leaving but also the possibility of signing another contract with Juve."

Jurgen Klopp is set to strengthen his Liverpool midfield at the end of the season with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of contract. Arthur is set to return to Juventus at the end of his loan spell and Rabiot could move the other way.

United also continue to be linked with a move for Rabiot. Erik ten Hag could be ready to bolster his squad this summer, especially in midfield. Newcastle are interested in a move for Scott McTominay, while Sabitzer is set to return to Bayern Munich at the end of the season when his loan spell expires.
