A weather presenter collapsed live on television as she was introduced to give her morning forecast.

Alissa Carlson Schwartz was being cued to give her 7am update on CBS LA when she suddenly appeared pale and her eyes rolled back in her head.

She then appears to try and steady herself with her arms, which were leaning on the studio desk, before she collapses to the floor.

Co-anchors Nichelle Medina to Rachel Kim initially appeared unaware that Schwartz has fainted, leading her in by saying: “Alissa, this really is the calm before the storm.”

Kim then exclaims “oh” as it becomes clear that Schwartz is having difficulties.

“You know, we're going to go ahead and go to break, right now,” Medina then told shocked viewers.

The Daily Mail reported, via TMZ, that when the show returned it went to pre-recorded segments rather than a live broadcast.

Schwartz later took to social media to give an update on her health.

Writing on her Facebook page, she said: “Thanks for all the texts, calls, and well wishes. I am going to be ok!”

It is not the first time that Schwartz has become unwell while on air.

In 2014 she was working for another broadcaster when she suddenly vomited during a broadcast.

A doctor later diagnosed her with a leaky heart valve, with stem cell from Schwartz's pregnancy when she gave birth to her daughter used to help repair her heart.

It was not immediately clear if her fainting episode was related to her previous heart issues.
