Harry Redknapp has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title - after former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson refused to pick between the Gunners and Manchester City.

A host of famous faces have been in attendance at Cheltenham Festival over the past couple of days, including some football royalty. Ferguson, who spent over two decades at Old Trafford and is widely regarded as one of, if not the, best Premier League managers of all time, is a big racing fan.

After spotting the 81-year-old, ITV Sport approached him for a chat ahead of the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. After chatting briefly about Ferguson's horse, Hermes Allen, he was pushed on who he fancied to win the title this year.

Unsurprisingly, given his previous rivalry with Arsenal and the fact that Manchester City are also one of United's arch-enemies, Ferguson was in no mood to give an endorsement. He quipped with a smile: "I'm not interested."

Redknapp, who was also in attendance at the festival, was more than happy to share his title prediction, though. The former Tottenham boss is in no doubt over he sees emerging victorious in the title tussle.

"Oh, right, Arsenal," Redknapp told ITV Sport when he was asked who was going to win the league. "Not Tottenham, this year, no. I definitely fancy Arsenal, strongly. They're top of the league, they look good. I think they're a fantastic team at the moment, Arsenal, I must be truthful.

"[Manchester City and Arsenal are] two great teams, but I think Arsenal have got the advantage."

Arsenal have defied the odds this season to sit five points clear of Pep Guardiola's side at the summit of the Premier League. With games running out, Guardiola insisted at the weekend that the Gunners have to be considered as the favourites in the race for the domestic crown.

But Arteta, who saw his side blow Fulham away in a comprehensive 3-0 win on Sunday, was having none of it and insisted that nobody at the club was getting carried away.

“I don’t know,” he replied when he was quizzed about Guardiola's comments. “We discuss what we discuss internally to be really humble, to work on the next training session and try to be better every day. That’s our focus. There’s still a huge part of the season to be played.”

If Arsenal can get the job done over the next few months, they would end a 19-year title drought after last winning the Premier League crown back in 2004.
