Manchester United are among a host of clubs expressing their interest in Barcelona star Ansu Fati - with Jorge Mendes attempting to mastermind a move away from the Camp Nou.

The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for the young Spaniard in the past; particularly during the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They could potentially renew their interest in the forward, with Fati seeing his game time reduced under Xavi this season.

The seven-time Spain international has made 31 appearances for the Catalan giants but only nine of those have been starts. Despite that, he has still managed to contribute with six strikes to his name in all competitions.

A move could be on the cards though, with Cristiano Ronaldo ’s former agent Jorge Mendes sounding out potential suitors according to Spanish outlet SPORT. It is suggested that Barcelona would be tempted to sell their academy graduate should an offer of £90million be tabled.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a big name forward with Erik ten Hag keen to add to his forward options ahead of next season. Tottenham ’s new record goalscorer Harry Kane has been prioritised, whilst Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen has also been linked.

Fati could represent a different option entirely with his versatility of being able to play both out wide and and centrally useful for the Red Devils. It is not expected to be easy to get him out of the Camp Nou, though.

The 20-year-old only put pen to paper on a new deal in 2021 - a contract that runs until the summer of 2027. Meanwhile, Barca boss Xavi has already ruled out the prospect of selling him.

"No, no, no... Things will work out for him," Xavi said in a press conference. "We have to be patient. Ansu is a spectacular asset to the club. We trust him a lot, he is working very well. I am very happy with his tremendous mentality in training, but be patient.

"He is 20 years old and needs time, like everyone else. Things will work out for him, now is not the time to talk about sales."

Fati has made 89 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions after progressing through the club’s youth system. In that time, he has scored 25 goals.

He helped the side to the Copa del Rey in 2021 and appears set to add a La Liga title to his haul with Barcelona having assembled an eight-point advantage over reigning champions Real Madrid.

United will get the chance to see Fati play up close with the Red Devils set to take on Barcelona in the Europa League playoffs. Ten Hag’s side travel to the Camp Nou next Thursday for the first-leg before then hosting the Spanish side a week later.
